The Mission

The mission of Grand Avenue Christian Church is the same mission Jesus gave his followers: Go therefore and make disciples of all nations, baptizing them in the name of the Father and of the Son and of the Holy Spirit.

The Vision

The vision of Grand Avenue Christian Church is create a community of authentic believers and to witness a city transformed by the life changing reality of the gospel, as people come to know Jesus as their lord and savior.

Where we started.

And how we will get there.

We have a long history of serving the Southern IL community. It all started on Jan 11, 1959 with the very first church service held in the Carbondale Community Center. After a year and a half we purchased land and built Western Heights Christian Church in 1960. Then in 2005, having outgrown the building, we started construction on Grand Avenue Christian Church.

Grand Avenue strives not only to reach all who are lost, but specifically cater to young families. We are creating a culture and experience that gives children, youth, and adults the freedom to experience church together and separate. Our goal is to have many options of small groups, and events that allow families to serve and worship together!
