What We Believe

GACC is an independent Christian Church that is part of a world-wide fellowship of churches commonly called Christian Churches and Churches of Christ.  This fellowship is not a denomination, but a means of association with similar autonomous local churches to support common areas such as missions, service camps, and Christian higher education.

Our heritage is rooted in what is commonly called the Restoration Movement, which is a two centuries old effort on the part of God's Spirit and God's people to call believers into Christian unity based on the authority of God's Word.  Restoration Movement churches share a fundamental commitment to five key principles:

The Unity All Can Achieve
"In essentials, unity; in non-essentials, liberty; and in all things, charity [love]."

The Book All Can Believe
"No book but the Bible":  We share a deep desire to restore the authority of Scripture to its rightful place both in the Church and in our personal lives.  God's Word is our primary means of achieving Christian unity and doctrinal purity.

The Creed All Can Accept
"No creed but Christ."

A Faith All Can Live
We embrace a simple New Testament Christianity that is patterned after the faith of Jesus and the early Church.

The Name All Can Wear
We describe ourselves as a body of believers in this way:  "We are not the only Christians; we are Christians only."

An expanded introduction to the independent Christian Churches may be found in this document.
